The POMUX KH53 non-contact linear encoder can measure absolute positions over lengths of up to 1,700 m. The encoder consists of two main components: a read head, which transmits the absolute position contact-free via a series of measured measurements arranged along the measuring section. All measuring elements consist of a certain number of permanent magnets. Since the distances between the magnets are unique, an absolute measurement code can be generated from them. Thanks to this absolute position detection, no homing is required. The read head is passed parallel to the measured measurements at a distance of 25 to 55 mm. Thanks to its measuring length of up to 1,700 m, the KH53 is particularly suitable for use on cranes, storage and transport systems or railway vehicles. This system uses non-contact technology, meaning it operates wear-free even under the harshest environmental conditions.
