Model Z2S check valves are pilot operated check valves with a stacked plate design.

They are used for leak-free blocking of one or two actuator ports and can even be used for long shutdowns.

In direction A1 to A2 or B1 to B2 the flow is free; in the opposite direction the flow is blocked.

For example, if the valve is flowing from A1 to A2, the control spool will move in the B direction, opening the ball valve and pushing the center of the valve off its seat. Hydraulic fluid can now flow from B2 to B1.

In order to safely close the ball valve, the spool must be hydraulically unloaded (see oil line example).

Pre-opening

Thanks to the pre-opening, the pressurized fluid can be attenuated and depressurized. This avoids possible commutation shocks.

Due to the use of a two-stage setup with an enlarged opening control area ratio, safe unloading is also possible using a lower pilot pressure.

Caution:

If the valve is not equipped with a pre-opening, the holding volume may be unloaded suddenly. The resulting commutation shock not only causes premature wear of the mounting components, but also creates noise.
