This isolated barrier is used for intrinsic safety applications. It transfers digital signals (NAMUR sensors/mechanical contacts) from a hazardous area to a safe area.
The proximity sensor or switch controls a passive transistor for the safe area load. The module output changes state when the input signal changes state. The normal output state can be reversed with the selector switches on the side of the unit.
Line fault detection (LFD) can be selected or disabled via a selector switch.
During an error condition, the transistor reverts to its de-energized state and the LEDs indicate the fault. A separate fault output bus is available.
The fault conditions can be monitored via a Fault Indication Board.
This module mounts on a HiD Termination Board.

HIC2422 Solenoid Driver: This is a new type of universal analog signal isolation barrier with two freely configurable channels. It can be used as an intelligent transmitter power supply for two-wire transmitters and as a current driver for valve positioners. The module is 12.5mm wide and very compact, with a channel packing density of 6mm/channel, saving valuable space in the control cabinet. It has global certifications (ATEX, IECEx, UL), is suitable for ambient temperatures from -40°C to +70°C, and is certified up to SIL 2 (SC 3) according to IEC/EN 61508, and up to SIL 3 when used redundantly.
HIC2851 Solenoid Driver: Suitable for RTD, 2/3/4/5-wire thermal resistors, the corresponding single-channel safety barrier model is KFD2-RR-Ex1. It can also be used for active 1-5V signal input DCS/PLC, the corresponding model is KFD2-UT-Ex1-1, and PI, Bentley Nevada frequency sensors, the corresponding model is KFD2-VR4-Ex1.26, etc.
