The Allen-Bradley 1797-BIC is a FLEX Ex bus isolator module. The purpose of this FLEX Ex bus isolator module is for connecting standard FLEX I/O modules and provide intrinsically safe connection.
The 1797-BIC FLEX Ex bus isolator module features power indicators, a label, a module locking tab, a removable power connector, a FLEX Ex backplane connector and connector cover, and a master backplane connector. It can be used in intermixed systems that have multiple FLEX I/O modules on the same DIN Rail that use the same adapter. Note that the 1797-BIC FLEX Ex bus isolator module should be attached to the system in the safe part of the operating environment if the system is located in an environment with hazardous locations or machines in it.
