The 1756-MVI’s thermal dissipation is 21.2 BTU hour and its isolation voltage is 50 Volts continuous. The 1756-MVI module ships with 6 components: the 1756-MVI module itself, 3 serial adapter cables, 1 booklet of installation instructions, and 1 CD ROM (for the 1756-MVID only). The module has an embedded operating system compatible with BIOS and DOS. The boot messages should appear on the screen if setup proceeds properly, but if no messages appear, check that the Setup jumper is installed correctly and that the cable connections are properly made. The 1756-MVI is a multi-vendor interface (MVI) module.  Like all modules in the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix series, the 1756-MVI is easy to install and it can be used in any slot on the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Chassis. It has no enclosure. The LEDs on the front panel of the module are for indicating the status of the channels and the module. This is helpful for troubleshooting on your PLC. Under the front panel of the 1756-MVI are 3 DJ% communication ports for interfacing between the ControlLogix system and external devices. The communications protocol is set by the jumper located on the side of the 1756-MVI. Changing the jumper enables communication between the MVI and other machines via the RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 communication ports.
