The Allen-Bradley 1719-AENTR adapter module from the 1719 Ex I/O module series is meant to be installed on a DIN Rail and grounded to the chassis ground through that DIN Rail. As a result, the DIN Rail that is used for mounting needs to be a zinc-plated yellow chromate steel DIN Rail. The backplane that powers the 1719-AENTR adapter module is also installed on the DIN Rail and it is usually installed horizontally. It can be installed vertically too, but when it is installed vertically, it must be installed with its power supplies on top to ensure that the heat generated during operation will dissipate properly. The Ethernet cables should be connected to the 1719-AENTR adapter module before it is powered on and they should not be disconnected while the adapter is online to avoid component damage.
