DNP 3.0 Master/Slave Network Interface Module for ControlLogix - MVI56-DNP
The MVI56-DNP module serves as a bridge between ControlLogix processors and a wide array of field devices that support the DNP (Distributed Network Protocol) communication standard. DNP is an open, non-proprietary protocol widely adopted in the electric utility, oil & gas, and water/wastewater industries to ensure interoperability among systems. It is designed to optimize data acquisition and control command transmission, offering high efficiency and reliability in communications between substation computers, RTUs, IEDs, and master stations.
The MVI56-DNP module leverages DNP's layered protocol architecture, including time-stamping and True Report by Exception (TRBE) features, to provide real-time data transmission to the processor without the need for polling. This ensures critical data is delivered promptly in emergency situations.
Single-slot compatibility with the 1756 backplane
Recognized as an Input/Output module with direct access to processor memory for seamless data transfer between the processor and module
Includes a sample ladder file for ladder logic programming to facilitate data transfer between the module and processor
Configuration data can be easily uploaded to the module via a configuration text file, with a sample configuration file provided
Supports both local and remote rack configurations
Features two user-configurable DNP protocol ports that can operate in a Master/Slave or Slave/Slave redundant port configuration
Offers user-defined internal register space accessible to both the protocol driver and ControlLogix processor memory.
